Once again i enjoy the view on the Cuernos del Paine, the central mountains in the Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. It’s my second painting about them. the first was viewed from the other side of lake Pehoe (on the right of this view) under a high sun.
Now, the sun is going down and a golden horizontal light struggles to travel across the clouds but manages to hit some cliffs. The mountains merge with the sky in an increasing variety of purple shadows.
I had fun building this painting from the back to the front, shifting the color scheme from background to middle, then to foreground. Adding mainly green, then black.
